How to Make Drop-Down Menus

Transcript

Hi, and welcome to another Sunburnt video tutorial. In this tutorial, we're going to take a look at how to build dropdown menus, like the products menu on the demo site.

Fortunately, it's very simple. First I'm going to login. Next, I'm going to create a folder to use for the dropdown menu. So I go to add item and select 'folder'. And I'm going to call this folder 'Services'. Now to make sure it's a dropdown menu we need to go the presentation tab and check the 'Show items in menu' box. Save that, and you'll see our new menu item for the Services folder.

There's nothing in it yet, so the menu doesn't drop down, but as soon as we add a few pages, we will see that happen. I'm just going to add a couple of blank pages, and then you can see it. It appears under the Services menu. Add one more, and there's our finished menu.

So dropdown menus can be made out of any folder. So for example, here's our Store folder and it has a few items in there already. If you want to turn that into a dropdown menu, just go 'edit this folder', select the presentation tab and check the 'Show items in menu' box. And there it is.

So we can't turn the contact page into a dropdown because it's a regular page, not a folder. That's pretty well it. I'm just going to do one more thing to this menu, and that's to rearrange it a bit. So from the Website menu, I select 'Organiser', and I'm just going to move the Contact page to the end, because that's where I prefer it. Close the organiser, and there it is - our finished menu.

Thanks for watching this video tutorial, and good luck editing your website!
