New Plans From $7.95
In order to better accommodate all organisations regardless of their size, we've lowered the entry price for our Sunburnt Portals system to $7.95 / month and added some addition bands for heavier users.
All plans give you access to our full suite of software including the website manager, mailing list manager, webmail and accounting applications (for more information on this software, please visit http://www.sunburnt.com.au). The new pricing plan is as follows:
More Flexible Billing
Dear Customers,
In order to offer you more flexible billing options and ensure that you are only paying for the services you are using, we are moving to a monthly billing cycle with either prepaid or postpaid accounts. From September 1, you will start receiving monthly invoices from us based on each month's service usage.
Images Made Easy
Many of our customers have had some difficulty inserting images and attachments on their web pages. To make the process more intuitive we've removed all the hoops you had to jump through so that now inserting images and attachments is very simple.
There are two changes. The first is a new "Insert Attachment" button on the editor toolbar:
This button shows the following dialog which allows you to upload an attachment (eg. a pdf file):
Domain Name Scams
Attention customers,
Please be aware that online scammers and spammers will continually try to trick you into selling their products and services, or obtaining your passwords. If you get an email which you think is dodgy, then it probably is. For example, one customer recently received this email:
Introducing Portals
Dear Valued Customer,
Over the past several months we have been implementing a major upgrade of our software and systems in order to bring you what we are calling our "Portals" system. With Portals, you can access all your essential business software simply by logging in at your website. You may notice that you now have a new menu bar on your website which reflects this change. You can use the menu bar to access all the software we have installed for you including:
- The Content Manager
- Your Webstats (updated daily)
- Your Group Mailing lists
- Your Webmail
- Your Junk Mail
- Your General Ledger, Accounts Journals and Customer database (eCommerce customers)
- Support videos, articles and documentation
Keep Sending us your Spam
Occasionally, some of our new customers will find that several spam emails make it into their new email accounts. This is because our filters are not yet familiar with the new customer's email patterns. It is important that you forward any spam you receive to spam@sunburnt.com.au so that our filter can learn which mail is innocent and which is spam. Each spam should be forwarded as a separate email.
If you do not forward your spam the filter will slowly get worse, because it thinks it is doing the right thing. In the worst case, spammers can be whitelisted for your email account and will automatically be approved until you identify their mail as spam.
Scam Alert: WorldWideWeb Register
Everyone is used to getting spam and scams in their email, but every now and again a sophisticated scammer will launch a postal mail campaign which even has experienced Internet users wondering if it is legitimate. The most recent comes from a Spanish company and is headed "WorldWideWeb Register" (see below).
The letter tricks people into thinking they are not in an official index of the WorldWideWeb (which doesn't exist) and they should provide their details "in order to obtain immediate optimal positioning".
